On the morning of August 18, Zhong Denghua, Vice Minister of education, visited the University for a site-investigation of scientific and technological innovation and epidemic prevention and control. His visit was joined by Lei Chaozi, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Hao Fenglin, First Level Inspector of the Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education of MOE, Li Jiang, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Director-General of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Wang Shunhong, Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee, Yang Dan, President of SWJTU, and He Chuan, Vice President of SWJTU.
At the Key Laboratory of Transportation Tunnel Engineering, Ministry of Education, Zhong Denghua inspected the Model Test System Considering Lining Structures, Strata and Water Pressure, the 3D Geotechnical Model Test System for Tunnels, and the Loading Test System of Prototype Structure for Multifunctional Shield Tunnels, and listened to the relevant reports on the laboratory’s history, team building, and research projects and achievements.
The Vice Minister examined the Roller Testing Rig of Railway Vehicles, the Multifunctional High-speed Train Operation Model Test Bed, the Vacuum Pipe High-temperature Superconducting (HTS) Maglev Levitation Ring Test Line, etc. in the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power at the University, and took an experiential trip on the HTS Maglev vehicle. Staff of the State Key Laboratory also reported on the construction of dynamic model test platform for Polymorphic Coupling Rail Transit.
Zhong praised SWJTU for its position at the forefront of science and technology and response to national major strategy and regional economic development. He encouraged the University to pioneer the scientific and technological development, strengthen the fundamental research, and make major breakthroughs in proactive basic researches and leading original achievements.
During the visit, the Vice Minister highly commended on the University’s efforts invested in epidemic prevention and control. He pointed out that the MOE attaches great importance to the work at universities. SWJTU should, in accordance with the decrees and instructions of the central government, focus on improving the system and mechanism for regular prevention and control, make good preparations for the new semester, and minimize the impact of the epidemic on teaching and researches.
