This rig system includes two independent test units. The test machine is characterized by a large disc 3,000 mm in diameter on which the contact wire is assembled. It can be used to study dynamic contact behavior between the actual contact strip and contact wire. Study of friction and wear behavior of pantograph-catenary systems are performed on this unit. The second unit is mainly applied to experimentally study electric sliding wear behavior and electrical conductivity of contact wires rubbing against a collector strip in pantograph-catenary systems.

Functions:

l Test capability under high voltage: It can be used to study electrical sliding friction and wear behavior of pantograph-catenary systems, electrical contact characteristic features include contact resistance, contact temperature rise and contact welding. It can also be used to study arc generation mechanisms and electric-magnetic distribution.

l Test capability under large electric current: It can be used to study correlations between the wear of pantograph-catenary systems and electric current and applied normal force. In addition, it can also be used to study arc generation mechanisms.

Main technical parameters:

l Sliding speed: 20-400 km/h

l Contact-passing electric current (AC): 50-800 A at a voltage of 100-3,000 V

l Contact-passing electric current (DC): 50-800 A at a voltage of 100-1,500 V

l Normal force: 40-300 N

l Staggering: 40-120 mm at a frequency of 0.3-3 Hz
